We would like to introduce the newest member of the Ebensburg Animal Hospital Team, Dr. Joel Takacs, VMD, Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons-Small Animal (DACVS-SA), a board certified veterinary surgeon.
Our veterinary surgeon has undergone additional training after veterinary school in order to become a specialist. This training consists of a 1-year internship followed by a 3-year residency program, publication of an original manuscript, and passing of the national surgery board exam. Specialists are called "Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons" or "board-certified surgeon".
Dr. Joel Takacs graduated from Penn State University in 2009. He then furthered his education at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2013, then completed an internship at the University of Pennsylvania in 2014 and completed a surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania in 2017. Dr. Joel Takacs attained board certification from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) in February 2018.
Dr. Joel Takacs performs a variety of advanced Orthopedic, Soft Tissue, and Oncologic surgeries, and is gladly accepting surgical referrals!
Dr. Joel Takacs has a wonderful wife, a son, and two dogs: a wiener dog and a one-eyed, crooked-legged Pitt bull rescue.
